Budget Basics – Issue Primers

All Missourians want the best for our families – a bright future for our children, security for our seniors, and a shot at a better future for us all.

Through its state budget, Missouri supports many programs that provide a foundation for its children, families, and seniors to succeed.

But it’s often difficult for Missourians to find the information they need about programs they care about.

This series of budget primers is intended to serve as a guide for Missourians who care about an array of state services, and to increase the transparency of the budget by providing information on where key programs can be found in budget bills.

PLEASE NOTE: These primers are for the current year and do not describe recommendations for fiscal year 2018. They are intended to give an overview of what is included in the current FY 2017 budget and how it impacts kids, seniors and families. The primers provide content to help individuals track changes that may be recommended between the current year’s budget and new FY 2018 recommendations by the Governor and legislature.
